Different bonsai and ESPECIALLY different soil influences the frequency of watering. For example bougainvillea with high amount of compost material do not do well if watered too frequently. 

Where others that have very little compost and primarily akadama, pumice, or lava rock can tolerate more frequent watering. 

Also it depends on the humidity and temperature.  The general rule of thumb is to check the soil with your finger just below the surface. If it is dry your plant could use some water. 

Note that with bonsai it is very individual and they tend to have personalities of their own about what ‘schedule’ is best!
